Under the supervision of the Director the University Health Center, the Medical Receptionist performs administrative support of the day-to-day operations for the University Health Center.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Receptionist must be able to work fast-paced, unpredictable environment while maintaining accuracy. The selected individual performs a critical customer service role to patients, staff, family members, and visitors to Montclair State University. Duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling appointments, entering data in the electronic medical record, collecting and processing health documents, and responding to telephone and email inquiries. The receptionist interacts frequently with patients, medical professionals, and supervisors. Must dependable, responsible, flexible, and able to multi-task.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately schedule and monitor appointments in the electronic medical record
• Process health documents presented to the office or submitted electronically
• Maintain accurate patient records by obtaining, scanning, and uploading insurance information.
• Collect payments and post all funds in the EMR and billing system.
• Respond to telephone and email inquiries
• Maintain office inventory and anticipate needs
• Scan, file, and/or fax documents
• Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
• Maintain office inventory and checking adequately stocked levels by anticipating inventory needs.
• Maintaining operations by following office policies and procedures

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

• 2 years of relevant medical office experience
• 2 years of experience using electronic appointment scheduling software
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and maintain professional manner at all times
• Detail oriented
• Ability to triage appointments at front desk and by telephone
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Basic computer skills, and knowledge of EMR system
• Strong customer service skills
• Comfortable working with a diverse young adult population and diverse health issues
• High school diploma
• Proficient in using email
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Preferred:

• CPR - BLS Certified
• College graduate
