The Echols Scholars Program in the College of Arts & Sciences at UVA draws together a diverse community of students united by their potential for significant intellectual engagement at UVA and beyond. Echols Scholars have flexibility in their academic requirements, and they participate in unique communal programming to cultivate academic, social, and cultural development. The goals of this programming are 1) to build and support the community, 2) to stretch the scholars intellectually, 3) to expose scholars to a range of perspectives and worldviews, and 4) to help scholars achieve their career goals.

The Echols Scholars Program is seeking a full-time program coordinator to join our team. The selected candidate will work closely with both the Assistant Dean and the Director of the Echols Scholars Program to create and implement activities, workshops, and field trips for the Echols Scholars. As part of this position, the selected candidate will work with UVA partners, including Career Services, Admissions, the Contemplative Sciences Center, and Housing and Residential Life.

A bachelor’s degree is required with at least 1 year experience and a strong interest in higher education. A master’s degree in higher education or related fields is preferred. The incumbent must have experience providing direct support to leaders. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills in daily interactions and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, is essential.  The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision and ability to follow established policies and procedures and adhere to regulatory guidelines in daily work are required.  Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.

The candidate must be able and willing to participate in activities that take place outside of standard work hours.
