The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks an Assessment Coordinator.

Duties: Develop, administer, analyze and provide expertise and support in the design and implementation of organization-wide assessment and evaluation activities for the lllini Union and Student Affairs Auxiliary units related to organizational effectiveness, including but not limited to; marketing trends, market conditions (risks and opportunities), competitors, target market demographics, and all aspects of customer service. ·Assist with the identification and development of relevant student learning outcomes within departments. Determine preferred evaluation tools to measure the defined student learning outcomes and provide support to departments throughout development, implementation and analysis of assessment results. Plan, implement and apply interpretation of data related to student learning outcomes and assessment measures to improve services, resources and co-curricular experiences in an effort to improve overall educational quality. Provide technical expertise and consulting with internal and external departments in all phases of the assessment process (e.g., identify or develop assessment instruments, identify strategies to implement assessment, analysis and interpretation of results, and guide application of results to improve processes, services, resources allocations, etc.). Provide support, leadership and guidance for the creation of an environment in which assessment and evaluation activities are understood and practiced for on-going improvement. Provide assessment and evaluation training and development opportunities for staff. Engage in professional development to stay abreast of assessment and evaluation theories, pedagogical, and technological developments. Research current trends and developments; exercising informed judgment, advise on new directions. Participate in local, state, regional, and national professional associations, conferences and committees as appropriate. Presents organizational-wide assessment results to internal and external audiences. Coordinate, track and project needed actions related to assessment for the lllini Union, Student Affairs Auxiliary units, as well as for clients of the Shared Marketing Center. ·Work closely with marketing director and Senior Leadership Team in the development and implementation of the lllini Union strategic plan, including mid-year progress report. Work closely with Senior Leadership Team to complete annual report. Responsible for testing and monitoring effectiveness of communication tactics and adjusting communication plans as necessary. Conduct assessment activities related to customer service; review assessment data with department and assist with development of process improvement plans to enhance customers' experience. Serve as lllini Union Assessment Committee chair and represent the organization on the Student Affairs Assessment committee.

Requirements: Master's degree in Measurement and Evaluation, Educational Statistics, or Higher Education with an emphasis in assessment or related field. Three (3) years experience in higher education environment including identifying and assessing student learning outcomes utilizing a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods including online tools and databases. Full-time.

Academic Resources

Academic resources on campus are among the finest in the world. The University Library is one of the largest public university collections in the world with 11 million volumes in its 37 unit libraries. Annually, 53,000,000 people visit its online catalog. Students have access to thousands of computer terminals in classrooms, residence halls, and campus libraries for use in classroom instruction, study, and research.

Research

Students and scholars find the University an ideal place to conduct research. The Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology is a model for interdisciplinary research, where eighteen research groups from sixteen University departments work within and across three broadly defined themes: biological intelligence, human-computer intelligent interaction, and molecular and electronic nanostructures. The University is also home to the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).

Undergraduate Education

The University has a fundamental commitment to undergraduate education. Nearly 28,000 undergraduate students are enrolled in nine undergraduate divisions, which together offer some 4,000 courses in more than 150 fields of study.

Undergraduate admission is highly selective. In the 2001 freshman class, students in the middle 50% had ACT scores between 25 and 30 and ranked between the 83rd and 96th percentiles of their high school graduating classes.

The University enrolls over 9,000 graduate and professional students in more than 100 disciplines. It is among the top five universities in number of earned doctorates awarded annually in the United States.

Also integral to the University's mission is a commitment to public engagement. Each year about 65,000 Illinois residents participate in scores of conferences, institutes, courses, and workshops presented statewide. Research and class projects take students and professors off campus to share expertise and technical support with Illinois farmers, manufacturing firms, and businesses. In a typical year, student volunteers log more than 60,000 volunteer hours.

The Arts

A major center for the arts, the campus attracts dozens of nationally and internationally renowned artists each year to its widely acclaimed Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. The University also supports two major museums: the Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion; and the Spurlock Museum, a museum of world history and culture. 

Other major facilities include the multipurpose Assembly Hall (16,500 seats); Memorial Stadium (70,000 seats), site of Big Ten Conference football games; and the Intramural-Physical Education Building, one of the largest recreational facilities of its kind on a university campus.
