Starting Salary: $4,443.64 (per month) plus benefits; Salary Grade: C1-46
Full Salary Range: $4,443.64 - $5,953.37 (per month)
NOTE: The salary advertised with this position is based on the 2017-2018 salary schedule. Effective July 1,2018 through June 30, 2019, the position will receive an additional temporary 5% increase. On July 1, 2019 salaries will revert to the 2017-2018 salary schedule unless another agreement is reached.

The Student Success Center (SSC) Mission Statement:
The Student Success Center supports classroom instruction by helping students at all levels become better learners and gain the confidence and skills to achieve their greatest possible academic success.
The Instructional Support Coordinator is instrumental in providing academic support services to students and achieving the SSC Mission. This position resides in the General Subjects Tutoring Center, one of the five SSC areas within the Equity & Engagement Division, and receives a high volume of contact with students and campus partners. The General Subjects Tutoring Center predominately supports students enrolled in accounting courses as well as those enrolled in business, social science and humanities. The ISC is responsible for the General Subjects Tutoring Center operations including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training and overseeing student employees and community volunteers, and also assists with some of the Writing & Reading Center operations. In addition, the ISC also provides academic support to students enrolled in English, reading and ESL.
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, recruit, interview, and hire student tutors; oversee, evaluate, and assist in training student tutors. Participate in the coordination of instructional support programs for a designated discipline (English, Reading, and ESL; Math, Science, and Technology; and Humanities and Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Business or related field); facilitate faculty and staff in providing specialized tutoring assistance to a related discipline’s development level students; and train and provide work direction to assigned student employees.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties will be carried out in collaboration with the dean, discipline faculty, and all Student Success Center staff Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Recruit, interview, and hire student tutors; schedule and assign work; establish priorities and adjust assignments to assure timely completion.
- Oversee, evaluate, and assist in training student tutors (including the maintenance of tutor attendance and performance records) to ensure that effective tutoring, professionalism, and adherence to district policies occurs.
- Oversee submission and approval of tutor time reports.
- Assist in the evaluation of Instructional Support Technicians in the Student Success Center.
- Respond to Instructional Support Technicians and tutors regarding policies and procedures of the Student Success Center Organization; collaborate with Student Success Center staff to develop policies and procedures that ensure consistency and integration among Student Success Center programs.
- Plan and coordinate team building activities and meetings for Instructional Support Technicians and tutors; organize procedures, materials and equipment.
- Participate in the coordination of instructional support programs in a designated discipline.
- Provide instructional support to students in developmental level courses in a designated discipline.
- Use and promote the use of theory-based developmental learning strategies such as meta-cognition when assisting students and tutors.
- Provide individual, group, class-assigned and/or online tutoring/lab instruction as well as workshops to enhance student skills and knowledge in the areas of a designated discipline.
- Implement and facilitate a designated discipline’s student exercises, practices and assignments.
- Assist students in developing effective study skills, time management skills, critical thinking skills, note taking skills, etc.
- Assist students in self-assessment of skills and performance levels; help students develop learning goals and advance through various stages to meet those goals.
- Prioritize higher and lower order learning tasks during tutoring sessions.
- Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of tutors.
- Utilizing appropriate scheduling software, assist in the scheduling of tutors including the identifying and assigning of students and tutors to appropriate tutoring formats and settings.
- Assist in the supervision, evaluation, and training of tutors (including the maintenance of tutor attendance and performance records) to ensure that effective tutoring, professionalism, and adherence to district policies occurs.
- Prepare and maintain records, reports and files related to assigned activities.
- Instruct students and tutors in the use of software systems used to deliver a designated discipline’s developmental level instruction; maintain currency in instructional technology.
- Participate in various professional development activities (including meetings, events, training, conferences, literature review) to maintain currency in a designated discipline as well as developmental education theory and practices.
- Participate in all required meetings (including division, department, planning) and take an active role in planning for the Student Success Center.
- Identify possible student learning challenges and refer students to appropriate campus disability resources for more expert advice.
- Provide coverage for Student Success Center facilities as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Pre-college and college level courses in the assigned and/or related discipline.
- Developmental level teaching techniques and strategies.
- Awareness of techniques used to address varied learning styles.
- Record keeping techniques.
- Knowledge of instructional technology, including course management systems, instructional software, and online management tools.
- Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Understanding of learning differences, learning skills, potential challenges and problem areas facing community college students.
- Clearly explain fundamental concepts in the related discipline.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff in providing instructional support to developmental level students.

- Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of related work experience in a classroom, tutoring and/or lab setting working with students in the assigned discipline and web development, with emphasis on instructional design experience.
