Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Division of Conducting & Ensembles seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Assistant Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2018, Spring 2019, and Summer 2019 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
The anticipated need may include but is not limited to:
Assistant Music Director, UNT Opera.
Duties may include [depending on qualifications]: coach and prepare singers; conduct rehearsals; conduct performances; play piano for rehearsals; play piano or other keyboard instrument during performances; play piano for auditions; play piano for acting classes & master classes; play piano for various outreach, fund-raising & publicity events; assist the opera music director and/or director of opera (mark orchestra parts, take notes during rehearsals, participate in planning & scheduling meetings, contribute to the success & efficiency of UNT Opera).

Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced pianistic skills; knowledge of opera literature.
20 hours per week, fall and spring semesters, and must be available most of the following UNT weekly Opera rehearsal schedule as follows:
Monday 3:45-10:00 p.m.
Wednesday 3:45-6:15 p.m.
Thursday 3:15-9:00 p.m.
Friday 2:15-6:15 p.m.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as an opera coach; familiarity with English, French, German, and Italian as well as knowledge of operatic literature and languages.
