The Residential Education Intern is responsible for assisting in the management of the Residential Education program. They assist with the creation of the para-professional training schedule, supervision of summer para-professional staff, and coordinates student and staff development and administrative functions in their respective complexes including crisis intervention, judicial matters, and programming. The Residential Education Intern also assists with other departmental processes.


Supervise 3-4 Summer Resident Advisors (RA) in East Hall. Serve as the primary resource and support for the students and staff residing in summer housing. Conduct performance evaluations of paraprofessional staff. Conduct weekly staff meetings with Summer RA's to share information and discuss student and residence hall issues.
Coordinate on call rotation for Summer RA staff.
Supervise and evaluate the programming efforts of Summer RA staff. Review programming model and requirements as needed to ensure programming efforts address needs of students and departmental goals.
Manage residence hall programming budget for Summer RA staff.
Administer the residence hall judicial system in summer housing. Meet with students and staff to follow up on disciplinary incidents. Serve as administrative hearing officer for residence hall judicial cases and housing contract violations for summer housing. Maintain accurate computerized database for residential judicial caseload and coordinate record keeping with the Assistant Director of Residential Education.
Advise students in personal, academic, and community related matters and make appropriate referrals as necessary. Mediate roommate disputes and student conflicts as appropriate.
Coordinate 2 health and safety inspections for summer housing, end-of-summer damage walkthrough,
and billing process for summer housing.
Participate in regular building condition assessment walk-throughs of all residence halls.
Assist in the day-to-day management of the Residential Services office.
Assist with Resident Advisor training, academic year prep work for the Residential Education program,
and other Residential Education processes.
Assist with creation of new Residential Education processes and department/university programming.
Assist Complex Coordinators with management of Summer Programs throughout the month of July.
Serve in the Summer Staff on-duty rotation.
Other duties as assigned.


  • Currently pursuing a Master's Degree in college student personnel/ higher education administration or related area.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy required.
