Wichita State University Libraries (UL) seeks an innovative and user-focused librarian to join the Research and Instructional Services team as Coordinator of Library Instructional Services, with an appointment as Assistant Professor. As a member of the Research and Instructional Services team, the Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Engagement and Public Services and provides leadership to the University Libraries instructional program by developing strategies for integrating information literacy into the curriculum, by applying learning theories and instructional technologies effectively into the teaching and learning process, and by assessing the Library Instruction Program’s impact on student learning. The Coordinator also serves as liaison librarian to academic departments as assigned. The librarian hired for this position will also provide reference services and engage in collection development.

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program, a minimum 2 years of experience providing instruction within an academic and/or library environment, and demonstrated experience using current educational technologies and multimedia tools to deliver instruction in a variety of environments.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of emerging trends and best practices of library instruction and reference services; knowledge of ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and ALA Code of Ethics; knowledge of assessment practices in academic libraries and higher education; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills complemented by the ability to take initiative; demonstrated commitment to providing customer service; commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population; demonstrated experience with project management, including the ability to plan, document, and complete projects; and demonstrated potential for meeting the Libraries’ tenure and promotion requirements.

12-month contract; excellent professional development support, vacation and benefits, including TIAA- CREF. Faculty librarians have tenure-eligible appointments with rank. Offers of employment are contingent on satisfactory completion of a criminal background check as required by the Kansas Board of Regents. WSU is an AA/EOE.
