Position Description - Lehigh University seeks an individual to lead the global citizenship initiative already in existence. The Professor of Practice will be affiliated with the College of Education through the activity of the position will reside in all areas of the University. The Professor of Practice will have an appointment in the Teaching, Learning and Technology Program and report both to the Vice President for International Affairs and the Chair of the COE. Administrative responsibilities will be overseen by the Vice President of International Affairs. Job responsibilities include teaching in the program, developing course and program offerings, enrolling students in the course/program sequence and cultivating new opportunities for engagement within the local community and the wider world. Opportunities to develop programs in association with Lehigh’s many global partners while weaving on-campus academic coursework into the undergraduate global citizenship experience in synthetic and meaningful ways is crucial for success. Candidates must have an earned doctorate (or within six months of completion) in a related field and substantial experience in higher education teaching and/or administration is required. Knowledge and/or scholarly contributions to the field of global citizenship along with a robust conception of the same is expected of the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will be a Professor of Practice in the College of Education and Global Citizenship Director affiliated with the Office of International Affairs. The Global Citizenship POP/Director will lead a program that will engage all five University colleges.
Job responsibilities include: teaching in the program and mentoring Global Citizen cohorts developing course and program offerings recruiting students and developing marketing materials developing and leading study abroad and community engagement programs collaborating with leaders of Lehigh's diverse international programs to develop partnerships to advance the goals for the Global Citizenship program consulting with Global Citizenship Faculty Advisory Committee to identify current and new global citizenship courses taught in all colleges managing all aspects of program administration, including program budget
The Professor of Practice position is for a 12-month, nontenure-track contract for three years, which may be renewable depending on the candidate’s individual performance and continued need. This is a full-time position, with a teaching load equivalent of 6 courses per year, though the administrative expectations will offset some of that teaching load. Lehigh is a doctoral/research intensive university of 5000 undergraduates and 2000 graduate students, and is located on a 1600-acre wooded campus 1.5 hours west of New York City and 1 hour north of Philadelphia.
