Job Description
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor.

The number of vacancies is dependent on student enrollment, division needs, and dean approval. Your application cannot be considered until all required documents have been received.

Adjunct instructors plan classes and implement and evaluate teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. An adjunct instructor undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate Criminal Justice courses within UNT Dallas's Criminal Justice major, including core-curriculum Criminal Justice courses (2100-Crime and Justice in the United States, 2600-Diversity Issues in Criminal Justice, 2300-Crimianl Law, 2302-Police Systems, 2301-Correctional Systems, 3600-Criminology and 3700-Ethical Issues in Criminal Justice), and there may be a need to teach other courses such as forensic anthropology, computer crime and criminal investigation in our portfolio of course offerings.

Adjunct faculty members will be required to use texts and meet certain content parameters set by the Department of Criminal Justice. Adjunct instructors also will be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria. Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Criminal Justice, or in an equivalent discipline, with at least 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice and outstanding experience in teaching core-curriculum Criminal Justice courses.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
  • PhD in Criminal Justice or JD with significant experience in higher education.
  • Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.
  • Specialized work related or teaching experience that directly relates to the course being taught.
  • Experience in online course development and teaching.
  • Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.

Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions
Work is primarily sedentary. The instructor sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.
