Advises and assists students and general public regarding Financial Aid services. Position ensures that all LSC, campus, and state policies and practices are correctly carried out.   Job Functions:
  1. Provides information to students and parents who are interested in financial aid programs. Verifies accuracy/corrects student financial aid grant, scholarship, work program or loan program application and files. Triages issues to higher level specialists/advisors/managers as needed
  2. Assists students and parents with the entire application and disbursement process for all federal, state and institutional aid programs utilizing electronic processes developed by the Department of Education
  3. Identifies and clarifies conflicting database matches from the particular agency/organization
  4. Resolves database mismatches including communicating with responsible agency and student
  5. Assists in the Federal Student Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling Sessions or Orientations
  6. Assists in preparation Federal, State, Institutional and Private reports to donor or agencies
  7. Provides accurate information regarding guidelines of major aid programs offered by Lone Star College and private donor scholarships
  8. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities:
  • Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately and/or concisely
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading
Salary:   $12.81/hour   Work Schedule & Conditions:
  • PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


QualificationsRequired:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 2 years of related work experience; an associate’s degree or higher may be substituted for years of experience
Preferred:
  • Financial Aid work experience in a higher education setting
