Position Summary:

Under general/limited supervision, performs primary processing, audit and review functions in Financial Aid Services. This position acts as a primary expert and provides advice and information to others, assisting students and the general public regarding Financial Aid services. Ensures that all district policies/practices surrounding Financial Aid are implemented/carried out correctly by others.

Job Functions:

  1. Provides a high level advice and information to all visitors at the LSC-University Park campus and specifically to students visiting the Office of Financial Aid
  2. Serves as first line of communication for students seeking information regarding financial aid options and opportunities
  3. Answers and screens phone calls, handling multiple lines. Answers questions, takes messages and directs calls to appropriate Financial Aid staff
  4. Assists with the initial steps of processing financial aid paper work, keying data, reviewing and auditing Student Aid reports
  5. Reviews and audits student records and maintains appropriate and timely Financial Aid documentation. Follows up by letter or phone to notify students of missing information
  6. Inputs data to be transmitted electronically to various federal, state and other agencies. Scans documents to be transmitted to Financial Aid System Office
  7. Provides accurate information regarding guidelines of major aid programs offered by Lone Star College System and private donor scholarships
  8. Advises students on supplemental financial assistance
  9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required to interact with subordinates and direct/coach work efforts
  • Ability to organize functions to ensure compliance with due dates/deadlines and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation w ith standard software options
  • Strong customer services attributes with the desire to enhance the satisfaction of LSC-University Park's customer needs are required for the position
  • Flexibility is a must. Ability to work some evenings and weekends required
Salary:


$12.81/hour

QualificationsRequired:

High school diploma and at least 3 years of related work experience .An Associate's or higher may be substituted for years of experience .(Associates = 2 years of experience, Bachelor's = 4 years of experience, Master's = 6 years of experience)

Preferred:

Financial Aid experience

Bilingual  English/Spanish
