Position Summary:

Under direct supervision, assists students, faculty, and the general public in identifying and obtaining Math tutoring and instructional services available at the Math Achievement Center.


Job Functions:

Greets students, college staff and the public, and directs them to the appropriate Math Achievement Center service.

Assists students, tutors, and faculty in the use of Math software and teaching materials.

Monitors student activity in open lab and study rooms.

Schedules open lab, conference room, and study rooms appointments.

Operates a variety of office and Math lab equipment, such as Smart boards, projectors, document cameras, and scanners.

Assists with Math Achievement Center programs and special projects as needed.

Checks-out and inventories study material.

Maintains inventory for paper and other office supplies.

Enforces Math Achievement Center policies and procedures for students, college staff, and the public.

Maintains safety standards and overall appearance of the Math Achievement Center.

Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to provide courteous service to users on a variety of software products.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and common office software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Capable of becoming quickly proficient in a variety of computer applications.
  • Ability to prioritize duties using sound customer service principles.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
Salary:

$9.95/hour

Work Schedule & Conditions:

 

  • PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment

  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position

  • A climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards is the general work environment, unless otherwise stated in job announcement.



QualificationsRequired:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
  • Associate's Degree
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • 1 year Help Desk or customer service experience
