Position Summary:

Under general/limited supervision this position is responsible for significant function. This position acts as primary expert and provides advice and information to others. Ensures that all system policies/practices surrounding function are implemented/carried out correctly by others. Primarily performs specialized, specific functions requiring knowledge and experience in a particular field, area or department function. Typical duties may include information gathering and review, presentation of information in verbal or written form, some interpretation of information.

Job Functions:

  1. Perform routine cashiering functions including the posting of tuition payments, waivers, refund checks and miscellaneous transactions.
  2. Record cash payments for parking violations.
  3. Work in person and via phone with students to provide detailed account balance information.
  4. Place and release student holds as necessary.
  5. Assist students with payment plan entry.
  6. Assist students with establishing refund profiles.
  7. Respond to staff, faculty and administrators regarding questions relating to student accounts receivable.
  8. Coordinate with campus personnel regarding third party billing transactions, check cancellations and other issues as they arise.
  9. Record and issue vending refunds.
  10. Maintain a clean, well-organized workspace.
  11. Attend off-site training sessions as scheduled at various locations.
  12. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to interact with students, faculty, staff and coworkers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with standard software applications
  • Ability to produce required results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and overtime hours during peak registration periods
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work collaboratively

Salary:

$12.81/hour

Work Schedule & Conditions:
  • PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment.
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
  • Ability to work payment counter hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Normal payment counter hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 am until 7:00 pm, Fridays 8 am until – 4:30 pm, and closed Saturdays. Schedule is subject to change based on business and peak registration needs. Ability to work at multiple locations to include Cy Fair, Fairbanks Center and Cypress Center.
