Position Summary:

Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College System accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.

Job Functions: 

  1. Teaches Interactive Digital Media courses at a variety of times and locations.
  2. Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  3. Develops and follows a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  4. Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  5. Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
  6. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  7. Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned. 
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 
  • Mastery of course content including a solid understanding of Adobe Flash.
  • Solid foundation in Graphic Design Principles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the following software: Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Edge, DreamWeaver, Muse, Photoshop & Illustrator.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work collaboratively with students, faculty and administration.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
  • Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning. 
Physical Abilities: 
  • Minimal physical effort is required
Salary:

$41.75 per contact hour

Work Schedule & Conditions:
  • Hours will vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Visual Communication related field with minimum of 3 years of relevant nonteaching work-related industry experience with demonstrated evidence of proficiency.
