Position responsible for teaching summer children’s camps. Continuing Education Adjunct instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System and student demand.
Teaches courses in the Discovery College Summer ProgramCreates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the materialSubmits required college reports and forms in a timely mannerUtilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelinesSupervises all children indoors and outdoors using positive feedbackMaintains a safe and healthy classroom environmentDocuments all accidents and incidents on appropriate formsEnsures that the Discovery College Coordinator has copies of all lesson plans, supply lists and syllabi to facilitate classes in case of instructor absenceResponsible for other reasonable related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Work Schedule & Conditions:
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipmentInterface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazardsHours will vary depending on class time; Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instructionSpecial Instructions:

- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related area, will consider equivalent work experience
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in an elementary or middle school setting OR at least 3 years of teaching experience in a camp, science or children’s museum, or education department of a zoo or aquarium
