Job Summary:

Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Information Security, the Information Security Analyst is responsible for monitoring and maintaining Information Security (InfoSec) systems to protect Aims’ resources from cyber attacks.

Duties, Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Analyst Duties:
•Monitors network traffic and systems for anomalies
•Triages and analyzes events across disparate systems such as SIEM, firewalls, endpoint data, and network data, to better understand and respond to potential incidents.
•Analyzes vulnerability data, prioritizes risk to the College, and remediates vulnerabilities accordingly
•Responds to suspected phishing emails by analyzing various indicators
•Responds to threats detected on endpoints by analyzing various indicators and using endpoint detection and response (EDR) data.
•Identifies and remediates security weaknesses in systems and processes
•Researches threat data and effective countermeasures
•Recommends security improvements to management.

2. Security Administration:
•Plans, implements, and tests new security controls and systems.
•Configures security systems such as firewalls, email security gateways, endpoint protection, and two-factor authentication (2FA).
•Performs upgrades of existing security systems
•Provides users management in security systems
•Troubleshoots issues and creates vendor support tickets as necessary.

3. Support:
•Handles support tickets assigned to Information Security
•Responds to Information Security email inquires
•Communicates with users in-person or via phone to provide security guidance and education
•Assists in the creation of training materials to educate users on proper security protocols.

4. Identity and Access Management (IAM):
•Act as an administrator of the College’s identity management system
•Manages user authorization to access various resources
•Manages access requests
•Performs account reviews
•Creates policies and integrates technologies to support IAM initiatives. Such technologies include Active Directory, password management, 2FA, SSO, and PAM.
•Monitors authentication activity for suspicious events.

5. Documentation:
•Creates and maintains up-to-date documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.
•Records information in detail related to incident handling.
•Develops and shares reports about the efficiency of security controls and policies.
•Creates support documentation for end users.

Functional Attributes of Job Duty Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a part/full-time basis.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Security or a related technical discipline preferred, plus two (2) years of IT systems security and troubleshooting experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

•Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
•Advanced comprehension of information security concepts
•Solid understanding of fundamental concepts such as TCP/IP, OSI Model and DNS
•Broad knowledge of networking, operating systems, server and storage hardware infrastructure
•Well versed in Windows Active Directory, Group Policy and Identity Management
•Able to effectively analyze and interpret log data
•Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

•Industry recognized security certification(s) such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH or GIAC are preferred.
•Knowledge of security best practices, guidelines, regulations, and standards is desired such as CIS Controls, FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, ISO/IEC 27002, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and PCI.
•Experience in risk analysis and administration of the operations of a complex enterprise security infrastructure preferred.
•Experience in some or all of the following: Managing and securing Windows, macOS, and Linux/Unix operating systems; Identity management; Vulnerability management; Privileged Account Management (PAM); Two-factor authentication (2FA); Network segmentation; Logging and monitoring; Security information and event management (SIEM) platforms; Email security; Data loss prevention (DLP) systems.
•Familiar with scripting languages such as PowerShell
•Experience working in higher education

Work Hours Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM during the academic year; Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM during the summer. After hours on-call support on a rotating basis or as needed.
