    Position Summary:

    Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College System accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.

    Job Functions:
  • Teaches courses in the NCCER Pipefitting (Welding) programs
  •  Recommends equipment and supply purchases; provides input into budget process
  • Works collaboratively with other faculty, CE staff, departments and divisions on schedule development, marketing events, student recruitment and retention efforts, and special events
  • Submits required college and NCCER reports and forms – advises students in career and program matters
  • Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques and delivery methods, including collaborative learning, learning communities, service learning, instructional technology and distance education
  • Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the Pipefitting trade
  • Skills in project leadership

  • Minimal physical effort is required
  • Salary:

    $45.66 per contact hour

  • Hours will vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction

    QualificationsRequired:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of documented pipefitting experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership/supervisory role and verify the various responsibilities undertaken in the discharge of those duties
  • Possess a Pipefitting Journeyman credential or equivalent
  • Be willing to complete NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP), and obtain the appropriate certification from NCCER in the CORE Curriculum and the Pipefitting Craft area
