Position Summary:

Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College System accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.

Job Functions:

  1. Teaches courses as designated by the Program Manager in the Computer Information Technology training programs. Courses include, but are not limited to, Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Outlook. Microsoft Office Word and Introduction to Computers in Spanish. Additional software applications including A+, Desktop Support, Oracle, HTML, Photoshop & Web Design applications. 
  2. Assists in developing CE Business and Professional curriculum for Computer Information Technology classes. 
  3. Responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of instruction. 
  4. Collaborates with college CE coordinators/program manager/senior program manager to develop CE schedules. 
  5. Submits required college reports and forms. 
  6. Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines. 
  7. Provides timely, quality access to students by appointment, electronic communication and other appropriate methods. 
  8. Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods, including collaborative learning, learning communities, service learning, instructional technology, and distance education. 
  9. Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress. 
  10. Attends in-service meetings or trainings. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Salary:

$41.75 per contact hour

Work Schedule & Conditions:
  • Hours will vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 3 years of documented experience working or teaching in a related field. 
  • License or appropriate teaching certifications required when teaching courses regulated by a licensing body or certifying authority.
