Job Summary
The School of Social Science and Global Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, non tenure-track, Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Economics for the 2019-2020 academic year. A successful candidate who does not have a PhD by August 2019 will be hired as a Visiting Instructor. The School is seeking candidates in any field of economics with a commitment to excellent teaching. The selected candidate will teach a combination of face-to-face and online courses which will include our policy-based survey course, principles of microeconomics and/or principles of macroeconomics, and upper-level courses in areas of the candidate's specialization. The School strongly values and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and scholarship. Applicants who have experience teaching and mentoring in a university setting with a diverse student body, as well as having taught and designed at least one online course, are preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Teach four courses per semester for Fall and Spring terms;

2. Hold regular office hours;

3. Attend faculty meetings as determined by Director of School of Social Science and Global Studies and the Coordinator of the Economics program;

4. Provide service in order to assist the functioning of the Program and School;

5. Assist in collecting assessment data as outlined by the Program Coordinator;

6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Economics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Economics or related field conferred by August 2019 with a record of high-quality teaching.
