Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time (12 month), Visiting Instructor for the School of Kinesiology & Nutrition on the Hattiesburg Campus. The person selected for this position will serve as the Student Support Specialist for Kinesiology & Nutrition undergraduate students enrolled in degree programs in Nutrition & Food Systems, Exercise Science, Physical Education and Sport Coaching Education. This position is a 12-month full-time position that requires summer teaching and service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach two undergraduate courses each semester, possibly
    including an Academic Success and Learning Skills course.
  • Work individually and in groups with academically at-risk students to enhance their academic performance.
  • Oversee the academic advisement process for the School.
  • Work collaboratively with the College of Education and Human Sciences student support team to develop and deliver creative and effective student support initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Special Education, PE Licensure, Sports/Exercise Psychology or Kinesiology (or related area); General Counseling or related field.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in student success and counseling services or activities is preferred.
