Nature of WorkThis position will serve as the Continuing Education Program Professionalfor the Center for Health, Work & Environment (CHWE) in the Colorado Schoolof Public Health based at the Anschutz Medical Campus and will focus on theeducational design, development, and coordination of CHWE’s online and livecourse offerings. The center offers educationand training and implements community-based public health projects.  It is committed to partnering with communitystakeholders who share the mission of improving the health, safety, andwell-being of workers, their families, and communities.  The scope of educational delivery for CHWE ranges from self-paced onlinecourses housed on our learning management system to in-person training workshopsand educational conferences. The ideal candidate for this position will haveexceptional project management, communication, customer service and continuingeducation skills. A successful candidate will have not only skills in visual,oral, and written communications but knowledge of educational pedagogy and thetechnical expertise to design online learning materials. They will be part ofan adaptive team responsible for a wide array of educational initiatives thatpromote the health, safety and well-being of workers. Continuing educationtopics include everything from mental health in the workplace to industrialhygiene to occupational health and safety, and Total Worker Health® promotion.  We’re seeking someone with a passion forclient interaction and the desire to make a huge public health impact througheducation. 

 The center’s mission is part of a broader effort supported by theCenters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutesfor Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to disseminate evidence-basedpractices and knowledge about occupational safety, workplace health promotion,and Total Worker Health.  This mission spansprofessional audiences including professionals who protect worker health andsafety, business executives, human resources managers, employees, healthcareproviders, and others across a wide range of industries. 


Examples of Work Performed
Project Management & Basic InstructionalDesign (approximately 50%):

  • Develops, tests and maintains courses primarily in online delivery modes, including attention to issues such as content sequencing, flow of information and relevancy of media and other technologies.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop learning objectives and training content, and ensure that the information is current, accurate, and complete.
  • Determine the best visual communication and design for training materials.
  • Provide educational guidance for synchronous and asynchronous online and face-to-face instructor trainings.
  • Proof courses at multiple stages of development and make or document required changes.
  • Work with subject matter experts and course sponsors to collect feedback for integration into the next course draft.
  • Build quizzes and meaningful course interactions to support course learning objectives using content authoring tools.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to integration of course material into the LMS.
  • Keep track of project tasks and status.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to record lectures and coordinate educational content.
  • Manage current online courses, conductsystematic course audits for course quality control and assurance, and learningmanagement system (LMS) maintenance.
  • Administrative Support (approximately 30%)
    • Applyfor, track, report, and renew a variety of continued education creditsincluding CME, CNE, PDC, SHRM and CEUs. 
    • Issuecontinuing education certificates to training participants as needed.
    • Assistwith processing of online course purchases.
    • Conducttraining evaluation and participant tracking and reporting.
    • Providetechnical support and trouble-shooting for a learning management system.
    Communications/Outreach (approximately 20%)
    • Workwith communications team to help market continuing education initiatives.
    • Outreach to course registrants for evaluation and marketing purposes.
    • Attendlocal, regional, and national conferences to promote new training and presentcurriculum results.
    Salary and Benefits:
    The salary range for this position has been established between $40,000 and $50,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

    QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
    • Abachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, public health,psychology, business, public administration, health care, educationaltechnology, social science, liberal arts, communications, library science, or adirectly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution:A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experiencemay be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
    Preferred Requirements
    • 2+ years experience with projectmanagement, specifically coordinating deadlines and completion of projectswithin a specific time, scope, and budget.
    • Proficiency withmulti-media tools such as: Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Flash, Photoshop,video/audio editing tools and/or other eLearning development tools.
    • Experience in creating content for websites, social media, and educational collateral.
    • Experience launching a new product and establishing its adoption.
    • Experience working in higher education,especially developing or teaching online courses.
    • Experience with utilizing a learningmanagement systems (LMS) for eLearning distribution.
    • Experience with projectmanagement, specifically coordinating deadlines and completion of projectswithin a specific time, scope, and budget.
