The Kable laboratory in the Department of Psychology, University of Pennsylvania is seeking two full-time research coordinators to work on research studies of the neural basis of impulsivity and selfishness using non-invasive brain stimulation. The research coordinator will work closely with collaborating investigators in the laboratory of Desmond Oathes in the Department of Psychiatry. S/he will be trained to conduct human neuroscience research with a number of tools, including transcranial magnetic simulation (TMS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Primary responsibilities include collecting, maintaining, and organizing all questionnaires, assessments, demographic data, and imaging data of the participants. Additionally, the coordinator will conduct recruitment, will screen and enroll potential study participants, and will also perform regulatory duties such as preparation and submission of regulatory documents through the IRB (initial submissions, amendments, and continuations). The research coordinator should be interested in and capable of developing skills across a number of research methodologies, neuroimaging software, and data analysis tools. Work hours will include evenings and Saturdays as needed to accommodate MRI scan calendar openings. Position is contingent on continued funding.


A Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year to 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Strong quantitative analytical skills and data management skills are beneficial. Other requirements include: excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; effective problem solving abilities; ability to multi-task; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. Prior experience working with MRI and/or TMS desirable, but not required. The ideal candidate has some statistical knowledge and experience in data analysis, preferably knows MATLAB or a similar language, and has experience with neuroimaging analysis using FSL, SPM or equivalent. Ultimately, the coordinator must be well suited for work in a fast-paced work environment that requires effective time management and a willingness to work independently.
