Advertised Job Summary

Under the authority of a Team Leader, this position manages and approves sponsored programs applications and recommends acceptance of sponsored awards for the University. Provides and manages administrative and consultative services for the acquisitions and management of externally sponsored projects at UofSC, Provides oversight for final review of faculty/staff generated interdisciplinary proposals on a university-wide basis. Interprets, implements and monitors procedures and policies affecting the sponsored projects at UofSC

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in research administration in an institution of Higher Education, knowledge of federal grant/contract regulations and procedures. Graduate degree in Business, Public or Higher Education Administration


Understanding of federal grant/contract regulations and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, members of work team, and sponsoring agency personnel. Must be computer literate and able to use electronic research administration systems. Analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience researching and analyzing complex information (e.g. federal regulatory guidance) to identify valid solutions and recommend courses of action. Ability to work independently in a team environment, exercise sound judgement, be flexible and accountable, manage conflicting responsibilities, prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines. Strong knowledge of basic computer software, including Microsoft Office products as well as Adobe and other web-based applications. Demonstrated excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and problem solving skills.
