Description:
A postdoctoral trainee position is available at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA. The position is in the laboratory of Dr. Gregory Bix in the Clinical Neuroscience Research Center, an established, NIH-funded translational researcher in stroke and vascular dementia. The Center will include several independent basic, translational and clinical NIH-funded scientists who work in a collaborative environment that includes outstanding resources to support innovative research.
The successful candidate will benefit from an experienced mentor, and a stimulating and collaborative research environment. There are ample opportunities for scientific growth, career enhancement, and development into an independent investigator in academia. The program will provide training in: (1) Ischemic stroke and vascular dementias – bench to bedside; (2) career development; (3) grant writing and; (4) learning how to mentor.
We seek a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individual who would benefit from working with a mentor with expectations of presenting research at weekly laboratory meetings and national / international scientific conferences, writing up research for publication in scientific journals, and assisting in research grant application data collection and writing. Furthermore, it is expected that the successful candidate will manage the day-to-day aspects of research projects under the guidance of the P.I., as well as mentor other trainees (e.g. graduate and undergraduate students).
Qualifications:
PhD or MD/PhD in an area relevant to stroke or vascular dementias and/or neuroscience.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to pay attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
