The Department of Political Science at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a one-year renewable, full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of lecturer beginning August 2019. The successful candidate will teach online and face-to-face courses in the Political Science Department’s newly established Public Administration/Public Policy minor. The position requires teaching Introduction to Public Policy and one or more of the following policy courses: Environmental Policy, Social Policy and Economic Policy. Applicants who are willing to develop and offer courses in other policy areas are encouraged to apply. The teaching load for the position is four courses in both the fall and spring semesters. Summer courses are not included in the teaching load.

Applicants must have a master’s degree in Public Policy or Public Administration or a PhD in public policy, public administration, public affairs, or political science. Preference will be given to candidates who have a PhD. Candidates are expected to have degrees from an accredited university or institution of higher learning and have their degrees in at hand at the time of hire.Experience Required for the Position Other Requirements for the Position
•All graduate transcripts
•Two letters of recommendation from supervisors who are familiar with the applicant’s teaching abilities and who have worked with the applicant in the past two years
•Recent student teaching evaluations covering the last two semesters of teaching, if available
•Teaching statement, including a discussion of online pedagogy
•If available, sample syllabi for relevant courses
•Diversity statement discussing how the applicant would engage a diverse student population such as Sam Houston State University that meets the College of Humanities and Social Sciences core goals.
