Occupational Category Technical/Para-Professional Department The Woodlands Center Open Until Filled Yes Educational and Experience RequirementAssociate’s degree in business, counseling, student services, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Three years of experience in school or university counseling, admissions, registrar, payments, financial aid or equivalent would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of PositionPerforms advanced specialist duties at The Woodlands Center. Counsels and advises prospective and current students in the areas of admissions, financial aid, registration, BearKat OneCard, and all financial transactions with the university. Serves as an expert resource for prospective and current students and parents for the following university offices: Admissions, Financial Aid, Registration, and BearKat OneCard offices.
Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist students and parents with the admissions application and completing the admissions file. Assists with the FAFSA application, completing financial aid file, satisfactory academic progress, and verifications. Helps students with registration, TSI, graduation, enrollment verification, resignations and issuing of transcripts. Assists students with processing student ID requests; requesting replacement cards and issuing temporary cards; OneAccount deposits and various other OneAccount needs; works with HigherOne to resolve student questions and concerns. Coordinates student activities and events. Maintains and updates social media for The Woodlands Center. Handles the P-card reconciliation and travel reimbursement. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other SpecificationsProficiency with a calculator and other standard office machinery. Accuracy in counting and balancing monies and maintaining student records. Must have a pleasant and courteous disposition and possess the ability to work effectively with a high volume of public interactions.
Responsible for scheduling classes, meetings, and events throughout the building. Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of office systems. Must have the ability to solve operational problems and make suggestions for process improvement.
This position is located at The Woodlands Center.
Working hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm three days a week, 9:30 am – 6:30 pm two days a week, and an occasional Saturday.
Spanish proficiency desirable.
