Basic Function

The Office of Facilities Planning and Support Services is committed to providing excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students and visitors of NOVA.
Facilities Planning & Support Services Consists of: Planning, Capital Projects, Non-Capital Projects, Operations, Sustainability and Fleet Management.

Under the Planning area, the Space Management is responsible for tracking usage of spaces and maintaining current and accurate floor plans.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Planning, this position will assist with various space planning projects, surveys and inventory activities such as floor plan verification, existing furniture surveys, room finishes and existing conditions among others.
The Architectural/Interior Design Assistant will work directly under a licensed Architect and Interior Designer.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Travel to the different campuses for surveys.
•Use of AutoCAD and Revit for floor plan updates, layout and test fits for offices and classrooms.
•Creating and updating miscellaneous plans, such as evacuation maps, safety maps, campus maps, etc.
•Creating of spreadsheets for documenting finishes and furniture on spaces surveyed.

Minimum Qualifications

•Associate degree in Interior Design, Architectural Technology or equivalent; or combination of education, training and experience with construction documents

Preferred Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related field; or combination of education, training and experience;

• Minimum two years of drafting experience with construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit Preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Ability to analyze, interpret and modify architectural drawings.

•Able to interact with staff to collect data, organize and prioritize information.

•Demonstrated ability to prepare findings, reports or schedules under critical time constraints.

•Demonstrated project skill including attention to detail in managing project work and creating accurate drawings and documentation
•Proficient in Auto CAD
•Proficient in Revit
•Skilled using programs such as MS Office Suite, including Excel and Project.
•Must have good computer skills
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
•Highly organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task
