Physical Requirements

The ability to lift, carry, push and pull 50 – 100 pounds on a daily basis; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injuries from intractable patients or sharp instruments


Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, may require some holidays.

Job Summary

The department of Neurology is seeking a Program Coordinator I.
Coordinate with surgeons and other physicians, surgery and clinic scheduling, and pathology and clinical labs to identify patients whose procedures might result in left-over tissue and blood specimens available for collection and inclusion in the Neuroscience Biorepository (NBR).
Establish collection schedules so that trained personnel are available in operating suites, pathology, labs, and clinics at time specified for biospecimens collection to ensure optimal quality of biospecimens to be processed and banked.
Facilitate programmatic expansion to surgical and clinical units where procedures are done that may result in left-over tissue and blood specimens to ensure that priorities for specimen collection are defined to meet biobank and investigator needs.
Assist units in setting up collection SOPs and initiating biospecimens collection protocols. Maintain confidentiality of all records.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of OR procedures and protocol; proficiency with electronic tracking databases, Microsoft Office. Phlebotomy.
