The University of Missouri Libraries (Columbia, MO) seek an Associate University Librarian (AUL) for the Division of Special Collections, Archives, and Digital Services. Reporting to the Vice Provost for University Libraries (University Librarian), this position provides dynamic leadership and strategic vision to special collections, archives, and digital services at the University of Missouri. The AUL is responsible for creating local and regional partnerships, building capacity for the Division through grants and fundraising, and directing the operations of the Division in a wide variety of functional areas, including collection development, processing, digitization, and public services.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Division's three departments (Special Collections and Rare Books, University Archives, and Digital Services) and its staff of 10 employees, including three full-time librarians, two full-time archivists, three full-time staff members, and several part-time employees, including graduate assistants and other student assistants. This includes establishing goals and objectives, setting priorities, long-term planning, resource allocation, personnel and operations evaluation, professional development of staff, and general administration.
• Provide leadership for grant writing, fundraising and development activities, including proactively cultivating relationships with donors and seeking out gifts and other external support in cooperation with the Libraries' Director of Advancement.
• Promote student, faculty, and researcher engagement with the collections through instruction and research services.
• Foster partnerships and projects with other library, campus, and extramural partners.
• Serve as a member of the Libraries' management team, participating in library-wide policy decisions and planning.
• Serve on library, campus, and professional committees.

This position holds non-tenure track faculty status (NTT) and will be hired at the appropriate rank of Librarian or Archivist. Required Qualifications:

• M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent or an advanced degree in a supporting discipline.
• Strong knowledge of book history, archival administration, and current and emerging trends in special collections, archives, and digital services including collection development, digital preservation, and book conservation.
• Demonstrated experience in digital projects.
• At least six years of progressively responsible special collections experience, including experience working with rare books, and at least two years supervisory experience.
• Record of successful grants and/or donor relationships.
• Excellent outreach and communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional advanced degree in relevant field of study.
• Language skills in non-English language(s).
• Experience in an ARL or other large research library.
• Experience working with library donors, large gifts, and with University Advancement.
• Demonstrated understanding of issues and trends in digitization, local digital repositories and aggregated digital collections in repositories such as the HathiTrust and DPLA.

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with rank. Negotiable from $85,000.
