SCAD seeks a part-time shop monitor for the School of Design shop spaces. This position enforces shop safety and University policy. In this role, you will oversee the distribution and collection of hand tools, enforce safe work practices, maintain a clean work environment, complete task lists, and assist the manager with various shop projects. The monitor will properly check students and hand tools in and out of the shop to maintain the user database. You will advise and assist students in the correct use of shop equipment. You will complete all shift assignments such as cleaning, light duty machine maintenance, cutting of sold materials, inventories, painting, organizing, and shop signage. You must stay active in times of low student activity through shop improvement projects. You must also promptly communicate any issues or concerns to the shop manager.

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferred; high school diploma required.
-Knowledge of basic woodworking tools, processes, and techniques is required.
-Cleanliness, attention to detail, and organizational skills required.
- Must be available to work flexible hours (nights or weekends may be required).
-Must be a self-starter who is able to stay engaged with minimal supervision.
- Must attend all college-sponsored safety and security training sessions.
- Must be prepared to render first aid as needed for minor incidents.
