SCAD seeks a sculpture professor for the university’s Atlanta location.
SCAD sculpture students partner with leading brands and big names, creating memorable experiences in the public sphere, like the recent large-scale artwork SCAD students created for the Hyatt Atlanta Midtown. Featured in prestigious media outlets including CNN and Wired, in the studios of NBCUniversal, on the sets of Marvel films and for on-the-pulse brands like Anthropologie, that work and more is produced within one of the finest sculpture studios in higher education.
In this role, you will fuse the discipline of sculpture with multiple other disciplines, such as industrial design, fashion, film, interior design and more. Working with students to shape wood, concrete, bronze, light, textiles, sustainable and organic matter, digital projections and other emerging materials into everything from large public art to movie miniatures, you will also propel students to solve design challenges, consider strategic business objectives and shape the form, function and emotional experiences of everyday life.
The ideal candidate reflects the capability and enthusiasm to address cross-disciplinary dialogues, while demonstrating the vision, ambition and interest in collaborating with individuals from a variety of disciplines. Operating alongside highly motivated and diverse students, you must exhibit a mastery of traditional and contemporary sculpture methods that include digital creation and output. You should also have a working knowledge of software such as ZBrush, Maya, Rhino 3D and/or Autodesk Alias.
One of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., Atlanta provides professionals an ideal environment to live, work and play. Located in the heart of Midtown, SCAD Atlanta is home to a dynamic cultural landscape that includes theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine. The capital of the New South, Atlanta provides both southern charm and the ebb and flow of an alpha city.
