Job Details
SCAD students navigate historical and contemporary film through critical analysis of the earliest cinematic breakthroughs and social transformations during the past century to the revolution of today’s cinematic experiences. In cinema studies coursework, students gain a curiosity for creative inquiry, critical thinking and visual analysis. These skills propel undergraduate students into major-specific disciplines while graduate students prepare for robust careers as critics, reviewers, journalists, artists, and entrepreneurs.
You have an opportunity to join the SCAD cinema faculty to provide students with the expertise needed to investigate and explain the complex relationships between context, culture and film. Working with the university’s community of diverse and highly credentialed faculty, the ideal candidate has the ability to motivate students to think creatively and critically in an active and engaging learning environment.
You and your students will participate in the eight-day SCAD Savannah Film Festival, the largest university film fest in the country, and take part in other SCADFILM-sponsored festivals and events. Amid the magic of the movies, students make one-on-one connections with industry insiders behind the year’s iconic films through masterclasses, screenings and coffee talks.
Named among the best small cities in the U.S by Condé Nast Traveler, Savannah offers an inviting climate and a culturally rich downtown, providing a real-world workshop for the study of art and design. The university blends seamlessly into the Savannah landscape and provides students with a dynamically layered learning environment in which to thrive.
