Job Details
Under limited supervision of the Lead Financial Aid Officer (FAO), responsibilities include awarding financial aid within federal and state guidelines; maintaining documentation related to federal verification requirements; overseeing one or more specific financial aid programs and/or service areas; ensuring timely and compliant processing and reporting of all aspects of financial aid programs and/or service areas; maintaining files in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines; assisting in audits and program reviews; and reconciliation processes when needed. Provides research assistance on financial aid regulations and provides recommendations regarding policy and compliance. Assists in audits, programs review, and reconciliation processes of federal, state and institutional awards.
A bachelor's degree plus one (1) year related financial aid experience.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of financial aid regulations, procedures and eligibility requirements. Preferred candidate will have knowledge and skills in automated processing, data management systems, and process efficiency. Must be self-motivated, have exceptional organizational and time management skills, and be able to manage multiple priorities while exercising sound judgment and discretion. Proficiency in MS Office applications and social media marketing is desired. Must possess excellent customer service, public speaking and oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Candidate must be able to read, comprehend, and comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the administration of student financial aid; interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments. The ability to speak conversational Spanish is a plus.
