Trident Technical College is now accepting applications for the position of Dean of Science and Mathematics. Trident Technical College is a public, two-year, multi-campus community college with a mission to serve as a catalyst for personal, community and economic development by empowering individuals through education and training. The largest technical college in South Carolina, the college has an annual enrollment of over 15,000 students in more than 100 academic programs. TTC offers courses on four campuses, at two instructional sites, online and in dozens of high schools across its service area.

The Division of Science and Mathematics offers the Associate in Science degree, which provides the first two years' of coursework for students transferring to senior institutions. The division also offers general education courses in support of the Associate in Applied Science degree in a wide variety of disciplines. In addition to the Dean, the Science and Math Division leadership team includes the Associate Dean of Science and Math, the Department Head of Mathematics, and the Department Head of Natural Sciences. The Division employs over 40 full-time faculty and staff and over 100 part-time faculty and staff.

Provide leadership in the development and implementation of divisional plans. Provide oversight of and leadership for curriculum review and revision. Review and approve departmental and divisional budgets. Supervise faculty and staff and conduct performance evaluations. Represent the College in appropriate community and professional organizations. Participate in the development and implementation of college-wide policies and procedures. Coordinate work with other deans and the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Mediate academic conflicts and resolve issues involving faculty, staff and students. The Dean also teaches a minimum of one course each semester.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a master's degree in mathematics or a science discipline offered by TTC or a master's degree in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in mathematics or a science discipline offered by TTC. The position requires three (3) years progressively responsible related work/teaching experience. A minimum of five (5) years of academic management experience preferred. This position also requires excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations in the community and within the college.

  • A proven ability to promote effective teaching and learning based on knowledge of contemporary pedagogies and delivery methods.
  • The knowledge and ability to function in an environment characterized by continual changes in information technology.
