Associate Dean of Students/Dean of Campus Life

POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Dean of Students / Dean of Campus Life provides leadership and all aspects of Smith Campus Center staff, the co-curricular activities program, and its operation, including the Outdoor Education Center and student media (KSPC 88.7fm, Studio 47, and weekly newspaper, The Student Life / TSL) and for all aspects of Office of Residential Life. This position represents the Campus Life (Student Programs/Activities and Residential Life) on campus, in the consortium, and in the Claremont community. This position is responsible for the direction and executive oversight of 14 full-time employees, a number of part-time employees, and up to 350 student employees across 4 areas of Student Affairs: the Smith Campus Center and all of the activities and services provided by them in the Smith Campus Center department, the Outdoor Education Center, student media outlets, and the Office of Residential Life, including related housing, board plan, and housing operation activities. This position provides leadership for the Orientation Implementation Committee and other special projects including but not limited to, Class Day, Family Weekend, annual student handbook updates, serving on the Student Affairs Committee, and serving as the liaison to the Claremont Consortium.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree; advanced or doctoral degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Business Administration; or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required. A minimum of 10 years of experience with increasing responsibility in the areas of student affairs or a related field is required. Experience at an academic institution is strongly preferred.
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel will be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: Regular, full-time, exempt. Starting pay rate: $9,832.00 per month.
