This position is located at Wahsega 4-H Center; located in Dahlonega, GA. Work includes leading K-12 students in multidisciplinary classes in the outdoors attending 1- 2- or 3-day field studies. Class subjects offered include life and earth science, survival skills, team building, high-and low-ropes challenges, and pioneer living skills.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree and one season of relevant work experience, commitment to environmental education, genuine interest in child development, dynamic personality, well-developed communication skill, creativity and leadership ability; Bachelor’s degree in Education, Natural Science, Environmental Education, Biology, Forestry, Outdoor Education, or related fields.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

- Skill in teaching a wide variety of subjects to youth 6-18 years old.
- Broad knowledge of outdoor education and able to work in an outdoor setting.
- Ability to work with and care for reptiles and amphibians.
- Ability to communicate effectively with youth, adults and young adults.
- Ability to work independently.
- Trained in or willingness to be trained in high-and low-rope course facilitation, CPR/FA/AED.

Physical Demands

Willing to lift up to 20 pounds, sitting for significant periods of time while working at a computer, standing and lifting cleaning supplies, teaching supplies, sitting while driving or attending meetings. Be comfortable working in all types of weather conditions; be comfortable with heights and able to climb a ladder. Willing to walk approximately 3 miles a day.
