Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow, Microbial Engineering and Marine Bioluminescence, Fort Pierce, FL.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will study marine bioluminescence and engineer bacterial host strains for the controlled production of bioluminescence. The aim is to develop a bioluminescent system that will be used in marine observation. The Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator to ensure that goals are being met. The Fellow is expected to design and perform experiments, collect and analyze data. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment, with close collaboration with members from Ocean Engineering and Optics teams. The initial job appointment is 12 months.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in Microbial Genetics, Molecular Microbiology or related field required at time of application.

Applicable coursework in related field preferred.

Motivation and ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team with co-workers is required.

Good communication and writing skills are also required.

Experience with microbiology and strain engineering is preferred.

Publication records in high impact, peer-reviewed journals is preferred.

Research experience with bioluminescence is preferred.

May require ability to work flexible work hours.

Salary:

$50,000 - $55,000
