Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow, Lidar Development, Fort Pierce, FL.

The Postdoctoral investigator will work in a field of Oceanographic LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) systems. Project’s focus is to develop real-time processing algorithms and data validation methods for LiDAR signal retrieval and interpretation. The study involves both simulation and experimental work. Majority of the work will take place in the Ocean Visibility and Optics Laboratory, which is equipped with underwater research facilities designed specifically for electro-optic and LiDAR system development, including a 13 meter particle suspension LiDAR test tank facility. The post-doctoral investigator may take also take part in single day at-sea missions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D from an accredited institution with applicable coursework in engineering or physics and relevant optics experience required at time of application.

Ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team with scientists, engineers of different disciplines (electronic, optical, software and computer), technicians and students required.

Must have a strong background in optics and proven experience with signal processing and analysis tools, e.g., Matlab.

An ideal candidate has demonstrated skills in both theoretical and experimental methods directly related to atmospheric and/or oceanographic LiDAR.

Ability to travel, perform field work, and participate in oceanographic research cruises is required.

Ability to work flexible hours when required to conduct fieldwork and research cruises.

Valid Driver's License required.

Salary:

$50,000 - $55,000
