We are currently seeking an Assistant Director to join the Office of Investment Responsibility and Stakeholder Relations (IRSR). IRSR is part of the Office of the President and serves as Stanford University's primary resource on responsible investment issues. The Office advises and partners with University leadership, the Board of Trustees, the campus community and external partners on a range of responsible investment/ESG/Impact investing topics.
Your primary responsibilities include:
  • Support the Director in the strategic planning and management of IRSR programmatic activities, stakeholder relations and research.
  • Represent the Office to the broader University community and stakeholders with a strong client service orientation.
  • Partner with other University Centers, Initiatives and Programs to advance the educational and research mission of the IRSR Office and Stanford University
  • Draw on your subject matter expertise to create, research and manage content for reports, proposals, policy briefings, and websites. For example:
    • Identify and understand key investment responsibility issues on campus
  • Plan and conduct research to support the Board of Trustees and senior campus leadership
  • Monitor industry RI/ESG/Impact investing best practices
    • Conduct market, company, and peer institution benchmark analyses
  • Track issues in the news and social media
  • Manage Board historical archives, reports and related documentation
  • Design, plan and administer conferences, lectures, meetings and workshops
  • Contribute content and maintain the IRSR website with support of the web design team
  • Provide general administrative support, including serving as the first point of contact for the IRSR program, coordinating presentations and background materials for board and other meetings
  • Administer vendor relationships and contacts

  • Knowledgeable about investment responsibility/ESG/Sustainable/Impact investing
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively in writing and orally with faculty, staff and students
  • Experienced researcher with ability to identify, collect, evaluate and synthesize complex and diverse information
  • Able to distinct perspectives, and work with teams at all levels of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the Board of Trustees
  • Able to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, operate independently, meet strict deadlines, produce a high-quality work product
  • Able to direct the work of others
  • Enjoys an environment which requires juggling multiple and changing priorities
  • Strong commitment to advancing the Office's mission and effectiveness
In addition, our preferred requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience
  • Must possess a strong understanding of both academic, corporate and non-profit settings
