These faculty positions are tenure-track (junior) or tenured (mid-career or senior). Although applicants of any rank will be considered, we particularly encourage applicants at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level. Candidates for a tenured position must possess a sustained record of professional achievement as indicated by outstanding research and publications, teaching, and other notable activities.

We particularly encourage applications in two areas: (1) individuals who use small molecule or chemical approaches to study important problems in biochemistry, or (2) individuals who use NMR, cryo-EM or other structural biology approaches in an integrative research program. We also will consider outstanding faculty applicants in other areas of biochemistry, including computational modeling and simulation, and development of novel techniques to study compelling problems in biochemistry.

Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Biochemistry (biochem.wisc.edu) invites applications for new faculty positions to build on its strength in biochemical research and technology and contribute to its multi-year hiring plan.

The Department provides outstanding support and a stimulating research environment within the highly collaborative research community at UW-Madison. User facilities available in the department to enable faculty research include animal care, biophysical and advanced microscopy instrumentation, electronic media and information technologies, and structural biology including cryo-electron microscopy, NMR and X-ray crystallography. Other excellent additional resources available nearby on campus include metabolomics, mass spectrometry, next-generation RNA and DNA sequencing, and high-throughput computing.

Principle Duties:

This is an academic (9-month) tenure-track (junior) or tenured (mid-career or senior) faculty position.

Principal duties to include:

1. Interact effectively with a diverse group of colleagues within the department, across campus and broader community.

2. Teaching in the UW-Biochemistry undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

3. Contributions toward faculty governance and participation in outreach through university and professional service.

4. A leadership role to independently build on the Department's strength in biochemical research and technology.

In achievement and prestige, the University of Wisconsin–Madison has long been recognized as one of America's great universities.
