Degree and area of specialization:

Advanced Degree required: MFA in Theatre and Drama or closely related field with emphasis in Directing/Acting.

Evidence of substantial professional stage directing required. Evidence of successful university-level teaching experience in directing preferred. Appropriate union memberships/affiliations (AEA, SAG-AFTRA, SDC, SAFD) preferred.

Position Summary:

The Department of Theatre and Drama seeks candidates for appointment as Assistant Professor of Directing and Acting to begin August 2019.

The Department of Theatre and Drama is committed to developing future generations of theatre artists and audiences. We are looking for an energetic and experienced professional interested in joining our diverse, dynamic, and collaborative team. Theatre and Drama faculty are expected to initially develop and teach one large enrollment course to support our size-limited practical courses. The departments of Theatre, Art, and Dance are housed in UW-Madison's highly acclaimed School of Education, which values interdisciplinary collaborations and supports the arts as we enrich our global community. The University of Wisconsin - Madison, one of our county's leading research universities, is a lakeside campus located in Madison, WI praised for its great natural beauty and quality of life.

Service to the department, school, university, and academic community (nationally or internationally) is expected.
