This position works in the area of a centralized library technical services department; Performs copy cataloging of print and non-print materials by applying and using appropriate technical cataloging rules and standards, including LC Classification, subject heading, RDA, Alma, and Connexion, to create and edit bibliographic and holding records; Assists with importing, maintenance, deletion, and quality control of all library records; Stays current of cataloging procedures and trends; Performs duties associated with processing materials, receiving, and invoicing of materials; Facilitates interlibrary loans; Has an understanding of the importance of the Library’s role in achieving the educational mission of a College or University.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree, OR a combination of education, training, and/or relevant applicable experience in library studies and/or library services, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred QualificationsTechnical services library assistance experience at a level requiring self-direction and judgment in decision-making; Working knowledge of Alma and Primo Discovery.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of library cataloging, OCLC Connexion, and online library systems (i.e. Alma, ALEPH); Ability to analyze, categorize, and classify information according to Library of Congress classification system; ability to construct Library of Congress call numbers and subject headings; Ability to apply complex cataloging rules and procedures; Advanced organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities; Physical ability to lift and move many books each day from shelf to book truck and reverse.
