Job Summary
Special Education Adjunct Faculty assist with the instructional delivery and supervision of program majors. These individuals collaborate with program area faculty to implement quality teacher preparation licensure programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Special Education adjunct faculty teach up to 6 hours [two - 3 hour credit courses] per semester. Typical courses focus on mild/moderate characteristics and methodology, severe characteristics and methodology, UDL, literacy, mathematics, behavior management, culturally relevant pedagogy, measurement and assessment, evidence-based practices, and lesson planning. Course delivery often includes demonstration and project-based learning activities. Assessments are aligned with pre-service teacher development, which requires critical thinking and contextual application. Duties include...

  1. Instruction in traditional and online formats
  2. Assessment of student learning outcomes
  3. Preparation of students to make data based decisions
  4. Adherence to CAEP and CEC standards as well as the IDEA mandate within pedagogical delivery
  5. Collaboration with P-12 school partners and other external stakeholders
  6. Performance of other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  1. A masters degree in special education is required.
  2. A minimum of three [3] years of P-12 teaching experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. A doctorate in special education
  2. Facilitation of the development of Teacher Work Samples or Ed TPA
  3. Prior use of Watermark/TK20
  4. Familiarity with CANVAS or similar programs
  5. Experience conducted classroom observations
