Title: Assistant/Associate Professor & Director of Clinical Education
Department: Physician Assistant Studies
Division: School of Health and Natural Sciences
Reports to: Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program
Status: Full time, Term or Tenure-track Faculty (12 Months) to commence August 2019

Position Summary:
The Dominican University of California Master of Science Physician Assistant Studies Program is seeking a full-time term or tenure-track faculty position at the level of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be to serve as the Director of Clinical Education who develops and delivers clinical curricula. The successful candidate may also have teaching responsibilities in the didactic year as his or her workload permits.


  • Direct the clinical operations and the clinical education team.
  • Negotiate the clinical schedules with the various clinical sites.
  • Initiate and maintain verification and documentation of all clinical site requirements such as Affiliation Agreements, Preceptor Profiles/Practice Profiles, Licensure and Board Certification verification, Criminal Background Checks, immunization records and other site required documentation.
  • Initiate and manage the development, implementation and assessment of academic performance evaluations within the clinical phase (End of Rotation assignments, PACKRAT, End of Rotation Exams, Summative Exam and OSCE examinations).
  • Participate with coordination of and conducting site visits to PA students during clinical rotations.
  • Monitor students' progress during clinical rotations and participate in advising and remediation of students' academic needs.
  • Ensure compliance with educational objectives during the clinical phase of the program.
  • Troubleshoot concerns related to clinical year students and/or clinical sites and preceptors
  • Initiate and maintain the development and retention of clinical affiliations.
  • Develop and implement the Call Back Week activities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Summative Session lectures and Simulation Lab events that occur on Return to Campus days.
  • Participation in program self-assessment and the ARC-PA accreditation maintenance and future site visits.
  • Participation in University and community service.
  • Participation in student recruitment, retention and academic progression.
  • Participation in student applicant admissions and interviewing

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in PA education, business administration or in a related field
  • If a PA, NCCPA certification required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with other program and university personnel
