The University of North Georgia’s College of Education is currently accepting applications for a Limited Term Faculty member in Teacher Education. This position, located in the Teacher Education Department, focuses on the Social Foundations of Education, and we seek a candidate experienced in education and practice with a commitment to diversity and social justice, experience in quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies, and experience in innovative teaching practices. Course assignments may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a member of the Social Foundations of Education Program, which is housed in the Teacher Education Department and includes undergraduate, graduate, and certificate courses related to the Social Foundations of Education.
  • Be expected to teach specified courses, prepare course materials, provide support and guidance to students, maintain records pertinent to accreditation, and assist students in securing and completing field placements.
  • Maintain an ongoing research agenda and commitment to service, including participating in recruitment efforts and working with doctoral candidates.
  • Have primary teaching assignments including, EDUC 2110: Critical and Contemporary Issues in Education, EDUC 2120: Exploring Socio-cultural diversity, and/or EDUC 2130: Explore Learning and Teaching. Additional opportunities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses may be available, depending upon expertise and qualification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with learning, teaching, and equity and justice-oriented educational theories
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice education
  • Knowledge of current national content standards
  • Ability to work collegially with other members of the College faculty and utilize opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Professional written and oral communication skills.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Required qualifications include an earned Doctorate in Social Foundations of Education or a closely related field.
  • Applicants with additional expertise in one of the following areas are preferred: Special Education, ESOL, Gifted Education, International Baccalaureate programs, Math Education, or Social Studies Education.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience in K-12 schools is strongly preferred.
  • A track record of success in research and acquisition of external funding is preferred.
