The Catalyst program is for High School Students with disabilities who are in the Occupational Course of Study Program or Regular Education Setting in High School, including Honors and AP Classes (not self-contained or needing a One on One Assistant), but prefer small group individualized instruction with hands on science experiences to learn about STEM.

The instructor will guide participants in learning STEM content, skills, and careers, as well as discovering STEM programs at Wake Tech and NCSU. Areas of focus include: Biotechnology, Coding, App Design, Wearable Devices, Energy, Engineering, Art, Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Forestry, Space, Soft Skills, and many other topics. Instructor will supervise students on daily Field Trips to research labs, North Carolina Natural Science Museum, industry and field sites.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Planning, preparing lesson plans, and teaching in classrooms.

Overseeing activities outside of classroom to promote Science, Math, and Technology in K-12 classrooms.

Activities would include field trips to have a personal experience of the things students have been taught.

Activities would include driving and supervising participants on field trips.

Minimum Experience/Education

BA or BS Degree with emphasis in Education or Math, Science, and/or Technology, and 1-3 years experience in Education

Departmental Required Skills

Planning, Teaching, and Preparing work plans.

Overseeing academic activities and project work in computer labs.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
