Job Title: Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology (Non-Faculty Staff Physician)
FLSA Status: Exempt
General Description (Purpose and Function):
The Staff Physician provides patient care by interviewing and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs. The Staff Physician educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interpret abdominal and chest imaging (body CT's, chest CT's, plain films), MR imaging of the body, diagnostic ultrasound and other areas as required by the Department.
• Supervise performance of technical personnel.
• Be involved in on-call radiology schedule.
• Exercise quality assurance as related to the practice of diagnostic radiology.
• Provide diagnostic imaging consultations as requested.
• Provide emergency patient care related to imaging as required in the setting of a radiology practice.
• Participate in teaching activities related to general radiology as required in Technological radiology educational programs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
• Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatments
• Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
• Performs in tactful and professional manner.
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
M.D. degree. Physician license required.
The Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Miami seeks a Medical Oncologist position to anchor a satellite facility for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center brings together some of the most distinguished and talented physician-scientists and clinical researchers in America. All clinical disciplines are represented by nationally recognized leaders in their respective disciplines. All work together in a series of coherently organized research groups, clinical interdisciplinary venues and coordinated educational activities. We believe this is an outstanding infrastructure in which physicians with a commitment to providing great patient care can receive the necessary support.
The fellowship will provide physicians who have completed sub-specialty training the opportunity to further develop academic expertise in lung cancer care as well as clinical research. We are seeking individuals with proven clinical and research expertise in lung cancer. Board certification and/or eligibility in Hematology and/or Oncology is required. Qualifications should include a demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications in lung cancer research and potential or demonstrated ability to secure extramural research funding.
Candidates for this position will be responsible for the development of novel clinical and translational protocols for treatment of patients with lung malignancies. The individual will have a focus in the treatment of lung cancer, to include research protocols, leading to peer-reviewed publications and funded clinical trials.
The individual will also serve as an instructor and as an attending physician in the Division of Medical Oncology, with focus on the care and treatment of patients with lung cancer. This will include outpatient care supervised by senior faculty with expertise in treatment and management of these cancers, as well as on-call coverage duties.
