The Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU AMC) has an opening for a full-time Senior Information Technology Administrator position.  
Jobs in this career family develop, maintain, and support computer systems, software and networks.  Functions include enterprise operations, distributed computing, academic computing, research computing, computer hardware and software management, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development, database administration, server administration, website management, programming, desktop support, and help desk operations. 
Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.  Work is performed fully independently.
Job Summary:The Senior Information Technology Administrator serves as the primary support contact for the SSPPS’s stakeholders and supports the SSPPS academic mission to provide innovative high quality pharmacy education.  
Examples of Work Performed:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  
  • Functioning as the day-to-day SSPPS system and network administrator
  • Providing hardware and software trouble-shooting and problem-solving computer services to faculty and staff
  • Applying appropriate hardware and software repairs using knowledge of local network configurations
  • Serving as the liaison to the OIT Information Systems Help Desk 
  • Maintaining the SSPPS information technology asset database
  • Analyzing equipment usage and age, evolving technology products, and users software and hardware needs and recommending equipment replacement or purchase and/or software upgrades or purchase
  • Providing backup audio-visual services support for faculty and staff 
  • Installing new hardware and software and providing training and end-user support 
  • Educating and advising SSPPS stakeholders about relevant technology (software, hardware) in formal and informal training sessions (in groups or one-on-one)
  • Purchasing IT equipment and IT-related supplies for the SSPPS
  • Delivering IT services, for both PC and Apple platforms, to a diverse client base of faculty, students and staff;  monitoring system security for unauthorized use, preventing the introduction and spread of viruses, and developing preventive maintenance programs
  • Participating in SSPPS IT strategic planning to identify new IT products and services for the school that will improve the ability of the school to meet its mission in education, research and service 
  • Assisting faculty and staff in the selection, implementation and use of educational and administrative software


QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration or a closely-related field
  • At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the information technology field, designing, implementing, supporting and managing information systems
    • Experience must include configuring, supporting and troubleshooting Apple Mac personal computers
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis, but not for the specific 2 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in the above named fields
  • At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the information technology field, designing, implementing, supporting and managing information systems, in a higher education setting
      • Experience must include configuring, supporting and troubleshooting Apple Mac personal computers
Competencies:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft/PC and Apple computer technology – e.g., extensive and in-depth working knowledge of PC and Apple database, spreadsheet, word processing software and presentation software and hardware.  
  • Ability to assess various PC and Apple computer hardware and software for potential use in the school
  • Active listening skills – e.g., the ability to ask questions and seek clarification from end users on their technology needs
  • Ability to work efficiently in order to resolve computer and software-related problems in a timely manner
  • Analytical and reasoning abilities
