DescriptionThis position is within the Building Services Department of Facilities Management Services

 

**This position is for the Alpharetta Center, located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta at - 3775 Brookside Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30022

 

Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.**work schedule subject to change

 

The scope of responsibility will include the following duties,

 

Clean and perform room set-ups in assigned building areas following established routines and procedures.  Serve as a lead person on cleaning assignments and may assist in training Custodian I on methods and procedures.Floor maintenance – sweep, dust mop, wet mop, scrub, strip, restore, buff and wax floors, and perform other duties as needed to maintain cleanliness of campus floors.General cleaning – sweep, dust mop, wet mop, buff and wax floors; dust vacuum, empty trash, and clean furnishing and equipment in classrooms and offices; clean and stock rest rooms; do general cleaning at off-campus properties; and perform related assigned duties.

Employee will use cleaning chemicals daily and will sometimes work around potentially dangerous materials in certain laboratories.

 



QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial or commercial setting. Must pass a criminal background check.

More than 50,000 students annually attend Georgia State University. While 90 percent of the students are from Georgia, students also come from all 50 states and 160 countries. More than 1,400 international students attend Georgia State and graduate students comprise 31 percent of the student population.

Degrees are offered at the bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels through six units: the College of Arts and Sciences, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, College of Education, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Law and Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. In addition to the numerous degree programs, Georgia State offers full- and part-time programs and day, evening and weekend classes.

Students have many choices in extracurricular activities including more than 22 fraternities and sororities; and some 250 chartered student groups, including 60 degree-related student groups, seven religious, 24 law-oriented and 22 multicultural/international groups; and 10 honor societies. There is also an active student government association which includes the student senate and the judicial board.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
