Job Summary

This part-time researcher will serve as a research coordinator and, both directly and by coordinating other researchers, recruit participants and collect data.

Essential Functions

  • Taking full responsibilities in participant recruitment.
    • Recruit and schedule children, adolescent, and adult participants for experiments conducted in the Amherst campus, at the UMass Center in Springfield, as well as in local schools.
    • Help maintain the participant recruitment database.
  • Leading and/or assisting in running behavioral and neural studies as well as outreach efforts.
    • Collect behavioral data from children and adults.
    • Collect neural (EEG and fMRI) data from children and adults.
    • Operate motor vehicle for transportation as data collection and outreach programs involve working on- and off-campus sites (e.g., UMass Springfield Center and schools/preschools)
  • Maintaining lab equipment and supplies.
    • Monitor research supplies for reordering.
    • Periodic maintenance of equipment and reporting the status.
    • Train new students on proper use of lab equipment.
  • Taking full responsibilities in organizing lab paperwork.
    • Organize paperwork including consent forms, payment receipts, etc.
    • Compose and keep lab manuals with detailed lab procedures, duties, and responsibilities for current and future lab members and trainees.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Experience with children as young as 3 years old.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a research setting.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in a human subjects research lab.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field preferred.

Work Schedule

  • 40 hours a week

Salary Information

  • $16.50 per hour
  • Non-benefited, temporary one (1) year appointment
